(Term 1 Wk 6, 9/2 - 13/2)
Hi-lo...
As the title suggests, Total Defence (TD) was one of the highlights in week 6. As a Singaporean, we must defend our homeland in whatever way we can. We must contribute to the society and help one another. We may not feel the pain our forefathers had experienced. However, we must, the very least, understand that it has not been a easy task for Singapore to become what it is now (and future). As a result, we will play a part in the 'Total Defence' of Singapore.
Besides having the TD Day, we also continued with our learning. For EL, we had practices in Synthesis & Transformation. One strategy was shared - identify the question on 'Direct to Indirect Speech' and work on it first. We will be working on this strategy in future practices and keep it in mind. We had also visited the Singapore Zoological Gardens (well...literally). Through the exchange of letters found in TB, we had found out more about the zoo (especially those rarely seen animals). If you have time, you can visit the homepage of the zoo to look for more information (and pics!). In addition, we've gone back to the basics in Grammar - understanding what a sentence is, structure of a sentence and 'verb'. Work on the practices in the Grammar Book (Green) for reinforcement.
As for Mathematics, you must remember the steps in solving the division of a whole number by a fraction. (Both happening at the same time - change the operation to 'multiplication' and invert the divisor) As for the word problems, read the questions thoroughly and try for the solution. Try hard. Don't give up too easily. Take a break and come back to the question, you may have a better understanding of the question. We'll 'clear' Fraction first before going to Ratio. Stay tuned.
Once again, the movement of my fingers on the keyboard (as I typed this post) is one of the many examples that shows the use of kinetic energy. Can you list another two examples that illustrate the application of kinetic energy in our daily lives? I believe you can. Energy is important to our daily lives that we need it every now and then. Don't forget the different forms of energy and be able to cite its use, examples of application, and (if any) the factor influencing the energy. Eg. the amount of gravitational potential energy is determined by the mass of the object and the height of the object from the ground. Keep thinking... so that your mind is constantly applying kinetic energy. :>
Art lessons - let your creativity grows through simple lines and shapes. Your art pieces (6RS and 6RP) are good and in the coming lessons, you can only improve further. Keep it up!
Events coming up? Science Centre learning trip and Health Checkup. Be prepared.
