(Term 4 Wk 7, 20/10 - 24/10)

Welcome back after the PSLE marking days. Week 7 was also the start of your examinations - Mathematics and Mother Tongue main papers. English and Science examinations await you next week on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Revision continues and coming Monday, it will be another public holiday - Deepavali, Festival of Light. There is no school on Monday so you can spend the time resting and revising for the EL and SCI papers. Persevere through this period. Do your very best.

Work to do? Check them out!

1) EL - Practice Paper 2 (labelled as no. 2)
2) SCI - Self-revision
3) Journal - Freestyle (OPTIONAL)

Check out Comment section on Monday. I will put up some exercises and pointers for you.

This is your last chance. It is up to you (especially those whom I have given lots of chances). If you submit the work, I will check it for you and you will learn from your mistakes. If you don't, you face the consequence. For those who have been consistently submitting your work, you are building a strong and good character for yourself - and your future. Keep striving!

Mood: Good, for I see improvement in you.
Remarks: HSM 3 is fantastic! Even better than HSM 1 and 2.

See comments for answer keys**.

By the way, just want to reiterate (say it again) on what 'Zhuo'*** has mentioned in the Chatbox. Having education is a blessing and you must know it helps everyone (yes, including you) to be knowledgable, skilled and wise to do the right things. So, you must know: Education is necessary for everyone. Do not feel that you are doing it for your parents, siblings or teachers. You are doing it for yourself, too!

I MUST say I know that sometimes you feel tired/bored from learning, studying or revising. Take a BREAK... before going back to your revision. If you continue to study/revise when you feel bored or tired, you may start to dislike the work (learning). When you dislike doing something, you will not be happy when you are told to do it. So, take a break from work when you are tired and return when you have your rest. This will ensure that you will not 'dislike' learning (hopefully!).

Well, sound like the normal 'nagging' you get from me in class? Haha. I hope everyone can understand what I am trying to tell you. Alright, check out the comment section in the next few days.

** Just check your answers. I will go through thoroughly in class on Wednesday. I have also given some helping points to guide you to find the solutions.
***Zhuo, please DO NOT think I am reprimanding you. I am glad in fact that you have done your work. I must also say that whatever you said in the chatbox has given me the opportunity to advise you (and the class) on how one should look at his/her education.

(Term 4 Week 5, 6/10 - 10/10)

It's already week 5. Time really flies by fast.

Week 5 was indeed a frustrating week. Well, at least for me. The almighty has fallen under the spell known as 'sore throat' (Arghhh! I hate it). Why was it frustrating for me? I am physically well... I can write on the whiteboard, I can distribute the worksheets, I can mark your work ... ... I CAN DO PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING ... except to TALK. The voice is one of the most, if not the best, 'lethal weapon' of a teacher. The teacher's voice enables you to understand what is taught, the kind of instructions to follow, and most of the time, also serves to scold, nag and advise you. Unfortunately, I lost it and had to rest it for two days.

Nevertheless, it was a blessing in disguise. During my absence, all those teachers that went in to relieve the lessons, they were impressed by your behaviour. Some of your names were even mentioned. I really feel proud of you - proud of 5RS. Of course, some of you still need to be reminded on how you should behave. On a whole, I just feel that most of you have understood the true meaning of mastering great values, be a good person. Please have these values with you FOREVER - and pass them on.

Well, so much so for those emotional naggings. Haha. Alright. EL and MT Paper 1 and LC are down. Main papers for EL/MT/MA/SCI are coming fast and furious. Continue with your revision and feel free to see me if you are unclear of any concept or question.

Revision for the weekend;

1) EL - Read TB Unit 12 'Machines'
2) MA - AB 'Volume' Practice 6, Q5, 6, 8 and 10. (30min)
3) MA - Practice Paper Bklet A and B (50min)
4) SCI - Practice Paper Bklet A (50min)
5) Social Studies - Bring TB 5B, (read Topics 1-4 if you have the time)
6) Journal (optional)

For Science examinations, the following topics from P3 and P4 levels are also tested. I will be revising with you in the coming weeks. Feel free to read up on your own as well.

P3 - Digestive, Skeletal and Muscular Systems
P4 - Respiratory and Circulatory Systems

YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF DURING THIS TIME. When your health is taken care of, you can revise well at the same time. I repeat, if you feel tired after revision, just take a break - watch television shows, chat with your family/friends/pets, have a nap, play some games etc. STUDY and PLAY must come hand-in-hand.

Alright, looking forward to seeing you on Monday. Remember to assemble in the hall from Monday onwards.

Rest well.

Mood: Feeling good again. Though still nursing my voice, I'm feeling much better. :>

(Term 4 Wk 4, 29/9 - 3/10)

Hi everyone,

Week 4 was another short week - Children's Day celebration on Tues and Public Holiday on Wed. Nevertheless, learning was done and you've done several work in this week.

As I emphasize everyday, you should begin your self-study by now. Revise the work done/concepts learnt since January. In certain subjects, you will also have to revise previous years' work (P3 and P4).

Coming up next will be your MT/EL Paper 1 and Listening Comprehension. Be prepared. Go through your previous writing. You should remind yourself to READ THE QUESTION and INSTRUCTIONS carefully before you start the papers.

I shall stop here. Let's take a look at what you need to do over the weekend.

1. Journal - "Preparation for Exams"
2. MA - TB pg164 - 166
3. SCI - (JB) What is a lever? List examples. What is an inclined plane? List examples.

Go through your Creative Writing package - situational writings and compositions.

Mood: I need a rest... badly...

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

Happy Children's Day!

Two joyous occasions falling on the same day. Everyone gets to celebrate these occasions which are annual (yearly) events in our multi-cultural country.

Take this time to 'let your hair down' (idiom) and enjoy yourself - use the Globe and find places you want to visit in future, use the Set-squares and revise your Geometrical Constructions. Feeling down and out? Make funny faces from Smiley Play-doh to lift up your spirits!

Work to do? Yes! Self-reading of the last few topics of your EL/MA/SCI/MT TBs. We'll be going through them shortly.

Lastly, check out your funny faces.... oops, I mean your funny faces on your Smiley Play-doh.
